Pottery and table ware

Pottery has become a life - long love, and clay's tactile and malleable nature fascinates me every day. The thousands of years of ceramic history that came before me are my inspiration; and the tools and methods I use to create my work have changed little in centuries.

With tradition as my guide I aim to unify aesthetics and function with the strong belief that they can be unified in the same piece. It is the unification of the two that distinguishes a well used and loved heirloom piece. I consider myself part of a community of potters present and long past who exchange ideas and cultures through sharing a common means of expression.
My pots are made to become features of everyday life. Their handmade character and function serves as the basis for an intimate relationship between the Earth as the material, myself as the potter, and the user and their life. Many of the materials in my glazes come from my surrounding environment and geology.
